mhlnk.com Get Your Pack Straight to Your Door Today! Could Red Wine and Resveratrol: Be Good For Your Heart? YES! Red wine, in moderation, has long been thought of as heart healthy. The alcohol and certain substances in red wine called antioxidants may help prevent heart disease by increasing levels of “good” cholesterol and protecting against artery damage. While the news about red wine might sound great if you enjoy a glass of red wine with your evening meal, doctors are wary of encouraging anyone to start drinking alcohol. That’s because too much alcohol can have many harmful effects on your body. Still, many doctors agree that something in red wine appears to help your heart. It’s possible that antioxidants, such as flavonoids or a substance called resveratrol, have heart-healthy benefits. How is red wine heart healthy? Red wine seems to have even more heart-healthy benefits than other types of alcohol, but it’s possible that red wine isn’t any better than beer, white wine or liquor for heart health. There’s still no clear evidence that red wine is better than other forms of alcohol when it comes to possible heart-healthy benefits. Antioxidants in red wine called polyphenols may help protect the lining of blood vessels in your heart. A polyphenol called resveratrol is one substance in red wine that’s gotten attention. Cape Town Holidays – Wines of the Constantia Valley

Cape Town Holidays – Wines of the Constantia Valley

Article by Rachel Hill

Cape Town holidays are a great opportunity to discover the joys of the Constantia Valley, Cape Town’s very own vineyard. The beautiful Constantia Valley is full of verdant forest, hills and rich wine-growing soil. Nestled amongst the vineyards there are a number of historical stately homes, belying the fact that the valley is merely minutes from Cape Town by car..

Take the Constantia wine route

The valley is well known as one of the Cape’s original wine routes. The close proximity of the valley to the city makes a visit to the Constantia Valley a must for anyone on Cape Town holidays. It is one of the only wine appellation regions in the world that is located within half an hour of a city centre. The valley is green and cool throughout the year, thanks to its close proximity to the Tokai Forest.

The Constantia Valley is home to no less than five internationally acclaimed vineyards:

The Groot Constantia Estate dates all the way back to 1685, making it of particular interest to those on Cape Town holiday. The estate is one of South Africa’s most important historical monuments and is one of the finest remaining buildings fashioned in the Cape Dutch style.

Steenberg Vineyards are another old establishment, recently taken over by Graham Beck’s Kangra Group. The 62 ha of vine land produces 70% white – mostly Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. They also produce Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Shiraz, as well as being one of the few South African wine farms that grows the Italian Nebbiolo variety of red wine grape.

The Klein Constantia estate is part of the original farm that produced ‘Constantia’ wine, which was prized throughout 18th century European society. In recent years they have reborn this sweet wine, once the toast of statesman and aristocrats. The vineyard favours quality over quantity and is steadily collecting awards from around the world.

The Buitenverwachting (translated as ‘Beyond Expectation’) wine farm is located on the east-facing slopes of the Constantiaberg, and was founded by Simon van der Stel the first governor of the Dutch colony in the Cape. The farm fell out of use for three decades, but has been lovingly restored and now produces great wines.

Simon van der Stel is also an important figure in the history of the Constantia Uitsig wine farm. The farm was part of his original grant of Groot Constantia, and is another vineyard that has been lovingly restored over the past couple of decades.

The wine routes and the historic vineyards of the Constantia Valley are a must for those enjoying Cape Town holidays.

Article by Jade Varnes

If you are a die hard fan of Opus one wines, you must definitely visit the opus one wineries. At the Opus one wineries, you will be treated to the most enchanting architectural delights of modern times. Some say that the architecture and the design of the Opus one wineries is the reflection of the wines that are produced there. To have a few glimpses of the architectural marvel, you can visit the Opus one official website at opusonewinery.com. The architectural delight of the Opus one wineries is a mix of contemporary Californian elements and classical European elements.

Many people spend money to make a tour of that place and sample their wines. They all say that both the sample wine and the tour are worth the money spent. You cannot sample wine online but you can have a tour of that place through the internet easily. Visit their official website at opusonewinery.com and you will be able to see what effect the amalgamation of two distinctive styles can make. The visual impact of the old world architecture being put side by side with contemporary Californian elements is as awe-inspiring as the sight of more than 1000 barrels placed side bi side in the Grand Chai.

Grand Chai is the place where wine is nurtured for the first one year. It takes few more stages before the company thinks that the wine is fit to be placed on the table. Buy a bottle to know what makes it so special. You can do that online. There are plenty of virtual outlets that allow you to buy your favorite wine from the comfort of your home. All you need to do is to spend some time in front of the computer. Of course, you need to know a little bit about wines, at least different names to buy online.

Ensure that you fill out all the necessary fields to get the accurate results. After clicking the Search button, you will get an exhaustive list of all the merchant locations and the other details of the wines such as the wine details and the cost of the wines. If you are interested in buying the desired wines by getting into an online auction, you may do so by enter the winebid.com website. On this website, you can bid for the all kinds of wines that are cheap and expensive.

Attending a wine auction is also an experience by itself. You can visit their website as well. You can browse through the pages and read about different wines anytime. However, if you want to participate you will have to register yourself and to do that you need to be more than 21 years old. If you do intend to bid, investigate the goodwill of the company and do some physical verification of the condition of the wine in their warehouse. Find out what type of warehouse it has. Does it have its climate controlled so that the wine keeps well?

On the winebid.com website, you will get the finest Principato wines also. You can even search of the principato wines by using the search functionality of the winebid.com website. For the Principato search, type Principato in the search box and click Search. You may be prompted to register with winebid.com website, when you either want to place a bid or if you want to make an immediate purchase. The types of wines that are available for auctioning are:

o Red wine

o White wine

o Blush/rose wines

o Dessert/fortified wines

o Sparkling wines

Of course, there are hundreds of good wines other than Opus One or Principato. Besides these are just trade names. If you go by the types of wines available, you will find quite a few and each has a distinctive taste and distinctive use. They are:

1. Red wine

2. White wine

3. Blush/rose wines

You should try to learn more about each, if you want to be called connoisseur.

It is needless to say you must be careful while you fill in the registration. Makes sure that the shipping address is correct. Otherwise, your shipment may reach some other destination! In the conclusion, let me say it once again, try Opus One once at least though it is little expensive. However, if you want very good wine at an affordable price try Principato. Introduced in 1978, Principato today encompasses a contemporary range of most popular variety of wines and blends. Try it.
